Anthony Taylor mediator

Welcome

I am a CEDR qualified independent civil and commercial mediator, helping individuals and organisations resolve their civil, commercial and professional disputes. Typically, I am appointed by solicitors to work alongside their clients to help them resolve or avoid litigation.

For 22 years, I was a dispute resolution solicitor in two of the UK’s leading commercial law firms and was a Partner for over 12 years. I was the firm’s UK Head of Litigation until 2022, leading a team of around 70 lawyers and partners. In addition to mediating, I am also an examiner for the SQE advocacy examination.

My approach to mediation is to prepare thoroughly in advance in order to gain a detailed understanding of the dispute and of the interests and commercial imperatives of the parties. Having litigated in the County and High Courts and in the Court of Appeal and Supreme Court, I am absolutely convinced of the significant benefits in terms of certainty, creativity, cost saving and management time that mediation can bring.

Mediation should be a dynamic process. Parties often need to explore a number of possible pathways to settle or at least narrow their dispute. I rowed solo and unsupported across the Atlantic in 2008 and completed the UK Ironman in 2009, 2013 and 2019. I try to bring that energy and positivity into the mediation to give the parties the greatest chance of a successful outcome.

"Anthony was well prepared and clearly had a handle on each party's concerns well in advance of the day of the mediation, having taken time to speak in depth to each party. He was personable yet professional and kept momentum going. We reached settlement quickly and efficiently. We would welcome the opportunity to use Anthony for future mediations."

Senior in house solicitor, FTSE 100 company.

"Anthony was very proactive in engaging with the parties in advance of the mediation and was an assuring presence during the mediation, which certainly helped in achieving a successful and amicable settlement."

Senior Associate, UK international law firm.
